A critical part of the GUNNER kennel safety equation – both internally and through the Center For Pet Safety – is our Tie-Down Straps.

Crash testing was a critical component to our R&D and impacted the kennel’s final design, and this included our strap system: In that testing, we were also making sure our GUNNER Tie-Down Strap Kit passed muster. In our initial crash testing (before the kennel debuted), the original strap accessory actually broke — so Addison went back to the drawing board to make sure we provide straps that can secure your best friend's home away from home.

The straps we offer on our website today, which debuted with the G1™ as a complementary accessory, have been tested and proven in all of our crash test scenarios. But they’ve also been proven in real-life scenarios and save stories too.

We always recommends anchoring the kennel to your vehicle through our stainless-steel tie-down pins* — for both your safety, and your dog’s. Why?

If you don’t and you are in an accident, you may find 38 lb. of Gunner (the Medium) containing 50 lb. of dog flying around inside your cabin. Or tossed onto the highway. And while the GUNNER kennel proven to protect against even the most unlikely scenarios, this is not the scenario you want.⁠

Ruffland Crate Crash Test — Another brand’s single-wall rotomolded crate at a simulated 30MPH crash. You can see that the tie-down points break off the crate, one of the doors is ripped open, and the tie-down straps used break.
